Three Little Birds
Welcome to Anerley Day Nursery. We have been established in the local area for over 30 years and have a dedicated team who love childcare and have many years of experience. Our 64 place nursery has five rooms set up to look after three different age groups.
We are open from 07:30 – 18:30 five days a week Monday – Friday, 50 weeks of the year. We are closed for one week in August, on all Bank Holidays and over the Christmas period.
The nursery is situated in Anerley in a detached building next door to the Town Hall. Anerley train station is across the road from us and Anerley bus station only a 2-3 minute walk away. The local buses are 249, 358, 354 and 432.
Crystal Palace Park and Betts Park are both close by and we go on outings around the local area.
We strive to deliver high quality childcare and teaching for all children, suitable to their age and specific needs. We believe that children flourish from loving and secure relationships. Our embedded key person method allows us to react with sensitivity to children’s feelings and behaviours, while meeting their emotional needs.
Our accomplished practitioners work in collaboration with our families to build upon joy, happiness and contentment of every child. This in turn enriches their well-being. Our curriculum originates from our children, staff and families. We nurture children with the skill to learn for themselves, providing them with a chance for exploration, experimentation and decision-making. Children have time to investigate and explore in our holistic approach to education. Our skilled practitioners shape learning through children’s strengths and interests and scaffold their development through the seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage. We build and assist their journey as lifelong learners.
My name is Delilah and I am the Manager at Anerley Day Nursery. I have worked here for over 10 years and have gained a lot of knowledge and experience; working my way up from being a Nursery Assistant to where I am today.
My daughter, who is now 11 years old, attended this nursery when she was younger and thoroughly enjoyed her time here - gaining lifelong friends. For me it was a very special and important time as I was able to watch her develop, grow and become very independent, while also doing what I love the most.
My passion has always been for child care and I enjoy watching the children grow from babies to be confident, sociable and friendly little people - set up and ready to start school and begin another exciting journey.
The nursery consists of five rooms along with a large sized garden that has been split in to age groups.
We have two Baby Rooms for children aged 3 months – 2 years: one which holds six babies and the other 12. Our staff members have many years of experience working with babies and understand the importance of parent and staff communication.
We complete daily handover forms whilst the child attends the setting to inform parents/carers of the child’s experiences throughout the day; this includes their sleeping patterns, nappy changes and food intake for the day.
We also have a toddler room for children aged between 2-3 years; this is situated upstairs and has adjoining bathrooms and toilet training facilities with our preschool room.
This room helps nurture children’s development through bigger transitions and milestones such as toilet training, using speech and language to communicate and preparing them for their preschool adventures, using a variety of exciting and stimulating activities and role play toys and areas. This room can hold eight children.
Our preschool room can take up to 24 children and is located on the top floor of the nursery. Our staff members have completed training and have the knowledge and experience of how to prepare children for their next adventures in primary school. We help to encourage and support children and parents on how to prepare for this big transition by introducing more of a classroom feel environment with stimulating activities and daily routines and structure to their day.
Children are invited and encouraged to take part in independent and challenging activities to prepare them and help them achieve their milestones such as setting the table, being a helper of the day, pouring their own water and placing art work into their own personalised trays ready for home time.
Our sensory room is located within the Baby Room, which is suitable for all age groups. It has a floor to ceiling bubble tube, multiple fibre optics, projectors, a rotating disco ball and a twirler light shining different colours and patterns across the padded walls of the room.
Each child will receive a key worker, who will help monitor and track their development according to the EYFS framework. This can be done through a range of monthly observations, videos and parent to keyworker updates. Using an online system EyLog we are able to create individual profiles for each child, inviting parents to follow and track their development throughout their time at nursery, this allows us to maintain a good clear method of communication with parents and allows them to upload their own images and observations from outside of the setting so staff members are able to see children progressing inside and outside of nursery, developing a more whole rounded view of each child’s individual abilities and progress.
We value the importance of children feeling welcomed, loved and secure in their new environment. The settling in sessions will allow your child to bond with their key-person, and build secure foundations for lifelong learning. In addition, this allows your key-person to gain an understanding of your child’s interest and be able to meet their individual needs.
Our flexible and tailor-made settling sessions, allow you and your child a gradual transition into nursery.
Please view our Settling in Policy to see our settle session procedure throughout the current lockdown period.
We also accept nursery fees via direct debit, the government Tax Free Childcare scheme and childcare vouchers. You can talk to your Nursery Manager to find out more or visit www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare to see if you can benefit from the scheme.
We are pleased to be able offer the 15 hour Funded Early Education Entitlement for all children from the term after they turn 3 years old. In addition, we offer the 2 year old and 30 hour Funded Early Education Entitlement for families that qualify. Please speak with your Nursery Manager to find out if you are eligible and for more information.
